My, new to me, 03' 200 hp Bombardier Evinrude FICHT Ram was running fine all day Sunday. At the end of the day, I ran about 10 min at idle forward in a no wake zone. When I hit it coming out, I got the warning horn and the check engine light came on. Tried cutting it off and restarting but got the same deal. However motor ran fine the 30 min back to ramp with no more horn but the light stayed on. ALSO, when running through its starting sequence, I get no light or horn. It takes about a minute of operating time to sound? Has fresh gas and no water in filters.
The manual provides little info. I can take to the dealer but the wait is several weeks. Hoping one of you can provide some guidance as to a possible cause/solution. I have read other threads saying that these motors are tuff on plugs, could that be a cause? If I fix it, will the light turn off or does it require dealer reset.
The manual says that it will go into s.l.o.w mode if the problem is an imminant risk.
Is it ok to run while I wait to have it looked at?
