Default Yamaha Fuel guage not working.

My fuel guage stop working on my yamaha guage I have 1998 yamaha 150's ( not sure if it matters) but it is stuck on the bottom stick and it keeps flashing like i'm out of gas, it came back for a day about a month ago but it's been gone every since, is it my guage or fuel sender??? is there some troubleshooting I can do to find out Thanks in advance for any info.

Disconnect the pink wire from your tank sender, you should see a change in the fuel gauge. Ground the pink wire and the gauge should go in the opposite direction. If the gauge moves you have a bad tank unit, if not it likely is the gauge.
