Default 2004 Honda 75 4-stroke constant carb rebuild

Hello,

I have a Honda 2004 75hp 4-stroke I owned for 4 years now. The problem is that I have to constantly get the carb rebuilt every year, I should say season (NJ), I use the boat for about 10 hours run time a week for 2 months only, after 4-5 weeks the carbs act up again. The engine mechanic I bring it to says there was a problem with the Honda 4-strokes carbs and its ports, that they were not designed to handle the cheap/dirty or all the additives of gas of today. Doesn't sound right to me, anyhow they are in the shop yet again for the 5th time, and cost me around $900 to rebuild each time. I love the engine but its approaching more money than what it worth.

Any advice I'd appreciate it.

Be sure you use Stabil at all times. Install a 10 micron water separating fuel filter. You did not say how large your fuel tank is. Adding fresh fuel to bad will turn the new fuel bad almost instantly. You may have to have your tank professionaly cleaned. Japanese carbs are more bothered by fuel contamination becaus of the very small orfices in them. Some people say they have had good luck storing their engines after running them on race fuel before storage.
