has anyone had problems with the lower unit on these motors.3 years old 3 vro pumps now lower unit gone.motor has about 100 hrs. professionaly maintained by dealer.Is this a problem on this motor or just my poor luck....I need help

VRO's can be a problem. We would like to know what the failure is and how it was determined. Alcohol fuels can be a problem if you do not store correctly. Gas can go bad in a month. How did the gearcase fail? This gearcase on the 150 normally does not have problems. What type of boat is it on and what prop is on it?

brp replaced vro pump out of warranty i have heard they had a bad run of pumps. The pinion(sp) gear failed. Motor is on a 20 ft. blue wave.Dont know prop size but will turn 5800 rpm at wot,396 mph at 4000 rpm.Have just talked to cust service at brp and they basically said tough....is this not the same lower unit that is warrantied on a E tec for 5 years.Thanks

I have heard rumors that there was a run of soft gears. You should have good luck with your new unit. Sound like you are propped correctly.

i have to be straight forward with my complaint...brp called back and they have reconsidered and have satisfied me.
