Default '04 200hp HPDI overheating

This is a new to me engine I bought in Fl from a small dealer. The engine runs great (was services by the dealer, no codes) but after about 5 minutes it overheats and the alarm comes on. We have replaced the thermostats and the dealer is sending me a new water pump kit to replace the one that he put in when he sold them to me and it pees a strong stream. If the water pump doesnt do the trick what else could it be??
Thanks

Try running the engine with the thermostats and covers removed. You should see a strong stream of water out of the openings. You can also try this with the gearcase removed and a water hose slid up the water tube. Thes engine most likely has been run in salt water which can cause salt build up causing the overheat. It is a good practice to flush an engine after each use in salt water.
