Default need help

I have a 2000 Yamaha 250 saltwater series OX66 outboard. Have had nothing but problems since last year. Mechanics are very good Yamaha. Had the bogging down problems associated with clogged fuel filter. All were replaced including VST and Fuel diaphragm pumps. End of last year stator went. Mechanics replaced it with a used one. Boat ran find until the other day. Went to start and the emergency stop alarm came on causing the engine not to turn over. The lanyard was in place, no loose wires or appearance of a short, it took several tries before engine turned over, each time the alarm sounded. Went fishing coming back in the engine bogged down like before with the clogged filters but shut off. Went to start back up and emergency stop alarm goes off again. Mechanics come and inspect engine, I went out with him while he ran all the test of the lines and inspected the filters, he even took a sample of the fuel. Fuel was clean, filters were clear, pressure was good only replaced a section of fuel line that had collapsed. He inspected the stop switch good not find any signs of short or loose wires. Went out the other nite, while idling in no wake zone engine bogged down. Went to start it again and the emergency stop alarm goes off again. Play with the lanyard and the engine starts. Head out the inlet and engine acts like it wants to bog down again but continues to run. Im at my last straw does this sound like an electrical problem, a short or loose wire? Thanks you

The alarm goes off when you try to start the engine with the lanyard removed. Removing the lanyard connects the stopwire to ground. Thus you are looking for a ground or a resistance to ground. This can occur any place in the stop circuit. Start troubleshooting by diconnecting the main engine connector at the engine. Using a good digital ohmeter check between ground and the stop wire with the key in the off position you should see 0-1 ohms. Turn the key on and you should see infinity. If you see any resistance between ground and the stop wire that is probably your problem.
