2002 200 hpdi idle question - The Hull Truth

one of my motors has an inconsistent idle when the boat is in neutral. it will jump from 750 to 1200 rpms. the other motor idles perfectly at 750-800 rpms. the motor in question will stop this when the boat has been run for about 30 minutes. any ideas? the motors have 593 hours on them

Check it for vacume leaks. Simple to do just spray it (all around the intake areas) with some kind of WD 40 or something like that and see if the idle changes while you are spraying. It does sound like a vacume leak to me.

i have not checked for vacuum leak but that does sound like it could be the possibility. i did put new plugs and change the vst filter...there was a little trash in the filter but it look pretty good. it still jumps at idle....anything A1??????

These engines probably need to be decarboned. See your dealer for his favorite decarboning chemical.

the guy who i bought it from claimed that he used seafoam regularly....will decarb this weekend and post results. thanks!
