Default Yamaha 200hp HPDI FUEL Problem/Question HELP US PLEASE

Engine started losing RPM and would go down to trolling speed, we changed all filters and the VST tank had some brown crustie stuff at the bottom of the tank, drained it all out and clean the small tank, the VST filter had white power looking stuff on it and was dirty, so we changed it as well. Ran the boat it ran well for 20 min then we lost rpm again, came in and then changed the 2nd spin on filter water fuel sep filter thats not on the engine, poured it into a jar and at the bottom was a ring of the brown crust that we saw in the VST tank. no water or e10 in the jar in fact the gas is very clean so we put a new spin on filter on, Do you think my husband should run the engine and then change the spin on filter again? or do you think we did any damage to the injectors? If we did damage can the HPDI injectors be cleaned or do we need to replace them? Thank you A1, You are doing a great service here.

HPDI injectors can be cleaned. If you do not use the boat at least once a week and keep the fuel tank full of fresh fuel you will continue to have problems. It is necessary to use Ring Free and Stabil at all times. E10 fuel is probably the cause of your problems. If you do not have the latest 10 micron water separating fuel filters it would be good to install them now. Change the filter at least every 50 hours. If you have doubts about running the engine you should take it to a dealer who has a tech experianced with HPDI.

can the spin on filter off the engine (10 micron) cause problems with the engine losing rpm if its not change every 50 to 100 hours or so? Or if it has junk in it?

If the filter becomes plugged it can restrict fuel flow. Have your tech perform a vacuum test to check the system.
