2000 Yamaha 225 ox66 - runs rough - The Hull Truth

Bought the motor used. Though it had been sitting about 6 months or a little more, it ran great for two trips -amounting to about 6 hours of use. Put in water on monday at it won't stay on plane, just loses power and then surges up and down. Ran fine just one week earlier. So far I've changed the fuel water seperator, emtied the clear bowl on the motor, and drained the fuel pump. Ran without the cover to verify the bowl was not getting sucked dry. I don't think it's reduced RPM mode either, tested the over heat buzzers. The gas is fresh and has stabil added. Tank and lines are just three years old, but I did pump out old fuel before hooking up this motor. What would you check or have checked first?

Sounds like your carbs need cleaned that would be a start make sure you ox sensor is clean.....I see you recently bought that from somone on this site.He said he ran 40 miles off shore with it....Evryone has a story hope you get it fixed.
