High idle f-225 - The Hull Truth

I have a pair of 2002 F225's . The starboard enging idles at around 600-700 rpm. The port engine idles around 900-1000, then after running for some time will drop down to 800 rpm. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to adjust your cable a little better or mybe the air handler on the motor is sticking a little.IMHO

Check engine temp. A bad thermostat can cause the engine to idle fast.

Thanks for the info. The t-stats were changed back in May. Went out for a ride last night and the engine was idling at 1000 rpm. Colder water have anything to do with the thermostats and idle. Thanks

The engine is designed to idle faster until engine temperature gets to about 100 degrees. The fast idle can also be an indication of an EFI electrical problem. Some manufacturers use high idle like the check engine light in your car. Have your dealer check for codes.
