Re: 2001 200 hp yami hpdi question
Only 50 hours on an 8 year old engine wil take the technician extra time to inspect carefully. That motor spent a lot of time just sitting and fuel could have left varnish deposits inside the fuel pump, lines, and vapor separator tank (VST). That makes for expensive repairs. Also the water pump should be changed out due to the age also, and inspect the drive belt for the high pressure fuel pump and the pump's oil should be changed.
Find a trained tech who is familiar with the HPDI's, especially the early ones like yours, and who will suggest all the filters be replaced, including the $90 mid-pressure one, and that the VST be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly.
