Default A1 Advise please

Yamaha 200 HPDI, 2001 models.

My engines have started to idle too low and will turn off when in nuetral (sometimes). I also notice that the throttles have to be pushed more forward to put the engines in gear that they use to be pushed. Sometimes the gears grind slightly.

Is adjusting the throttle linkage and raising the rpms something simple that I can do? I like to tinker (am good at it) but do not want to mess up my engines.

Thanks for any help.

Frank

Default Re: A1 Advise please

there is a service bulletin on the new procedure for adjusting idle on your engine, it relies on the throttle position sensor voltage. First the throttle plates have to be synchronized to open exactly at the same time and close completely, and be in sync with the TPS. The adjustment procedures are in the factory service manual.

See your dealer to see if you can read service bulletin 2002-01A which explains how to set the idle on your engine.
