Default TO FOG OR NOT TO FOG?

After talking to a boating buddy the subject of fogging the ob for the winter came up. I have a 2004 f60 Yamaha and I have fogged it every autum since I have had it. My friend asked why; his point of view any 2stroke ob should be fogged but a 4 stroke didn't need it he then asked if I were to lay up my truck for the winter would I fog it; my answer of course not; kind of makes sense I thought but I thought I would ask anyway. thanks

Actually it is more important to fog a 4-stroke because there are more steel parts (valves and guides) to rust up and the cast iron cylinderwalls do not have a film of oil on them above the piston rings like a 2-stroke does. All you need is a nice crust of rust on an exhaust valve to hang up in the guide and possibly hit a piston come springtime. In salt water climates it is even more critical.
