Default Idle for 1992 200HP Mercury?

I am having a fuel problem which I feel could be the idle set too low. The motor is ideling in "N" about 700 to 800 rpm's. When you put it in gear it drops to 500 to 600 rpms. When you put it in gear it bucks and kicks and will cut off unless you go ahead and get it some gas If you let it sit there and idle out of gear it will eventually cut off.

Is it possible that the idle is set to low and when it idles it just doesn't get the fuel that it needs and that causes it to cut off?

The fuel pump has just been replaced, motor was re-built 3 seasons ago along with the carbs. Motor runs great and has plenty of power. Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Your motor is idling a bit slow and there could be a lot of different or a combination things that could cause that. First is engine health, what are the compression numbers and when was the last time it was decarbonized? Are both cylinder heads at the correct temperature? Did you go through each of the recirculation hoses, valves, and fittings to make sure everything was clean and flowing? How about the linkage snchronization?

You will need a sharp mechanic or your own knowledge and expertise from the factory service manual to make sure everything is "up to snuff", then adjust the idle speed.
