Re: Yamaha 130 making a ticking noise when ideling If an early Yamaha is overpropped and/or overloaded, the wrist pins take the brunt of the detonation force. Back about that time Yamaha changed thier oil formula to help combat the wrist pin wear problem. Actually, since the writst pin is steel and the piston is alumnum, it is the piston that wears, elongating the hole where the pin goes through.
Some engines will run forever even with the knocking, and others do not.
