Default Oil recommendation for my 1994 Johnson 200

I would like to know what you recommend I do for oil for this motor as I recently purchased it and I dont know what oil is in the tank.

I would like to use the best oil possible for my motor, preferably a synthentic oil. Could you please recommend an oil for me. I have a kicker so the motor will not be used for trolling if that matters.

And, how should I go about adding it? I could let the oil run down as low as possible, but I am afraid of running it like that if I get into a rough water situation.

The tank has a remote fill, but I can access the top of it. I was thinkiing of taking the sending unit off and using my suction gun to get the old oil out. Or maybe I can take the fill hose off of the tank, whichever is easiest. The boat is in the storage lot right now and I cant remember which would be easiest.

thanks once again!!!

I'm sorry but I guess my initial reply did not take. I remember typing out an answer for you last week, my apologies.

XD-100 is the absolute best oil you can use. It's not cheap but it keeps your motor very clean inside and is required if you do any boating in temps below 40°F. XD-50 is very good also, it's a partial synthetic, and a quite a few bucks less expensive.
