Default 2000 200hp optimax

Initial problem: Stalls at idle, past idle it ran fine, at 3000rpm sensor alarm comes on but engine runs fine and has full power. Things that I checked: Resistance of coils, resistance of injectors, checked tracker valve diaphram, replaced wires, replaced throttle position sensor. Still no good. Replaced fuel water seperator ,put in 20 gallons of gas: ran almost perfect with the exception of a slight sputter at idle, no more sensor alarm. Used boat two more times, first time it ran very nice, second time didnt idle that good but no loss of power. Put in about 30 gallons of fuel. Now it does not idle correctly and it has a major loss of power. Could not get past 4200 rpm. Replaced battery wit 1000 mca, did a compression check and found four cylinders with 110 psi, one 115 psi and one with 105 psi. Two of the plugs looked wet (with fuel or oil)one more than the other. Cleaned plugs and reinstalled them with no change. Is it time to bring this puppy to the mechanic?? Please help.

Thank You Paul

Forgot to mention that I checked the fuel air differential with a regular tire guage and it measures a 10psi differential.

You've done about all you could with what you've got, so a professional should look at your motor. Which sensor alarm? My guess is you have injector problems or maybe a temp sensor out of spec makng the motor run too rich.

I dont know what sensor triggered the alarm. The only indicatir is the 4 function light. The bottom light comes on at 3000 rpm. Does this problem sound like a possible fuel problem since it came back to almost normal at one point?

Where are you getting the gas.? Change your gasoline habits. Let the old stuff run out then fill up with a known good source other than where you have been going?use some startron water absorber and see what happens.

Removed fuel filter and emptied all the fuel. Put some tektron in the filter and reinstalled filter. Ran for a while on external tank. Still no good. Took boat to the mechanic, will post results.

Update: Took boat to the mechanic. Mechanic stated: Ran compresion test and CPU diagnostics, #1 cyl had water penetration due to blown head seals. Found that thermostats needed to be upgraded from 120 to 130 degree thermostats. After repair engine runs like a top. Only question that I have is when I ran compression test how come I did not see what he saw?

He may have noticed the effects of water intrusion even though the compression reading may have been close to the others.

thanks for the update and am happy that it's working fine for you now.
