Default Out of Warranty

I have a Merc 150XL SWB ser# OT556278

I was told that I need part# 2951 857 185A1. It is abox on the top that controls ignition I believe and when conected, the engine runs on 3 cyl. Will Mercury cover that part, 3 months out of warranty.

Thanks

Mercury is under no obligation to cover any items past the published warranty period. Like many companies, Merc has been known to help out customers by participating in a good will effort at times.

Your best bet is to take it to your authorized dealer and ask them to confirm the diagnosis and to contact the dealer tech support group to see what they say. You can also write a letter to the customer service department, but most of the time, they want the dealer's report on the motor before making any kind of decision. Good Luck
