Default Yamaha gauges

I bought a new Yamaha multifunction tach a few months ago, to replace the one on my 2001 225 ox66. The harnesses did not match, so I cut and spliced the wires. I have two fewer wires on the new tach than on the old, so I have two wires "left over." I think one is orange and one is black/white. The new tach works, but the oil and trim indicators do not. Can you help me figure out how to wire these up so everything works? The old oil and trim indiucator worked, so I know that I have wires to feed this info to the new tach. I just need to know how to match up these wires.

Yamaha changed the harnesses on their gauges a while back and they changed the electronics inside for the various 2 and 4 stroke motors and different trim senders.

There is a service tech bulletin from 5/24/2006 number O2006-006 that should give you the information that you need. See if you can see a copy at your local Yamaha dealer. It lists the adapter harness that you may need.

Thanks. I don't have a local dealer that I am aware of. Any chance you can point me in the direction of the service bulletin somewhere online, or send it to me in PDF?

Can't do the service bulletin, but for Yamaha parts contact Shipyard Island Marine and Andy can help you out, tell him we sent you. Their forum is 5 below this one. Good luck.
