1999 Ficht 175 hp rebuild ? - The Hull Truth

I just purchased a 1998 World Cat with twin 1999 175 hp Ficht motors. One motor has 300 hrs. and the other has a new powerhead with 20 hrs. on it. The previous owner swears the motors always ran great and a faulty oil valve caused one motor to burn up last year. The motors ran great during the sea trial both at low and high speed. Since I've heard nothing good about these motors my question is would it be worth rebuilding the motor with the 300 hrs.? Are they reliable when all the fixes are installed on the rebuild. I plan on doing several Canyon trips ranging from 50 to 80 miles out and also do a lot of trolling. So is the motor worth rebuilding or not?

Rebuilding that motor is easy ,making them reliable is iffy at best. Id run them till one broke then buy somthing else...IMHO
