Default Johnson Tech Manual

Hello all,
I have a 1999 Johnson 200hp Ocean pro (Carbs, V6). I have water mixing with my lower unit oil. I have replaced the Screws w/gaskets along with fresh oil. After running it with freshwater I am back at same point. I have been told that I might need a Lower Unit Seal kit done. I have some general knowledge of mechanics. Is this something I can do on my own or should it be done by certified mechanic?? Also where can I purchase a Factory Tech Manual for my motor? Thanks in advance for info, this is my first "REAL" boat and am still in the learning process.

A factory manual can be bought through you authorized dealer, or maybe from Ebay if one gets posted. Have your model number ready as it's needed to get the right one.

Depending on your ability and the tools and hydraulic press needed to seat the seals correctly, it's usually best to let a professional do the job. A lot of folks get by with prying seals out with a screwdriver, then hammering them in instead of using a pusher tool, but that is iffy at best. The gearcase also has to be pressure checked and vacuum checked, and most individuals do not have that capacity.

Thanks for the reply. What about the water impeler? Would this cause fo water to leak into lower unit?
