A-1: Do you have any suggestions what could cause the following problem? The buzzer that sounds when you turn the key on is not buzzing and when the motor runs the smart gauge shows a bell symbol and engine symbol at the same time. I checked the smart gauge manual for the symbol identification and said it is a motor problem. I checked all the connections I could see and did not see any obvious problems. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. The motor is 2002 ,225 opti.

Just like today's cars, a laptop or a hand held scanner type instrument is needed to find out what error codes are stored in the engine computer. It would be best to have a trained mechanic do a quick diagnostic of the systems to see what is triggering the warnings.

Often erroneous signals are shown because of incorrectly adjusted throttle cables, loose or corroded battery connections (no wing nuts, regular nuts and lockwashers only), or the use of too small capacity batteries. Use a 1000MCA as a minimum.
