Default 2000 250 Johnson carb vs. 300hp Etec

I'm thinking of repowering my 2000 250hp Johnson Oceanpro (30 in shaft) with a new 250 or 300 HP E-Tec. Boat is a 1999 Wellcraft 25 foot center console. I currently run a hyd jack plate because of low water levels here on the great lakes. Would this swap be a "bolt on" or are they're wiring and gauge changes I would need to make. I'd buy a new prop, so not worried about that.
I currently have a dual binnicle control to run my main motor and my 8hp trolling motor.
Let me know if this is as easy as it sounds or if I have to start tearing into wiring harness's etc. I assume my Flo-Tec fuel meter would still work since I'm going from a 2 stroke to another 2 stroke?
THanks
Todd

Either the 250 or 300 would make a good powerplant on the back of your boat. With it's longer stroke, you will get more torque with the 300.

The engine bolts right up using the same controls and wiring harness and oil tank. Make sure everything is in good condition, though. It would be a good idea to add new throttle and shift cables if your old ones are originals.

You will love the fuel and oil savings with the E-TEC, plus the motor is super quiet compared you your 2000. If you add the I-Command digital gauge, you can have access to accurate fuel burn without any fuel line hookups, plus you can get all kinds of information including push-button winterizing on the motor.

Thanks for your comments. I currently have a dual binnacle set up. The starboard lever runs the 8hp trolling motor and the inboard (port lever) run the 250hp motor. I run a hyd jack plate (CMC), and I have a flo-scan fuel flow meter, so I'm not sure I would really benenfit from the I-command controls. One thing I would need to look at is props. I assume the lower unit and spline count has changed, but the pitch maybe different. I run a 4 blade Powertec prop that may not work well with the new E-TEC.
Are the pops compatiable between E-tecs and other V6's?
Thanks
Todd
