Default gas flow meter

i have a 2000 cuntury with twin 0x66 200 hp yamahas. i have the factory yamah guages one of which is a fuel mngmt(flow) guage. the guage has power to it but it is not working. it justs reads 00 it has a sync button and a mode button but they do nothing . i cant find my flow censor. where would it likely be located on this boat or motors. i believe it will look like an aluminum cylinder with wires attached. any suggestion would be appreciated.

Look for your flow sensor somewhere near the transom area. Trace the fuel line from the tank to the motor and it should be normally right after the boat mounted fuel filter, if you have one. A while back there was a factory recall on the fuel flow senders from Yamaha. If I remember right, the old one had 3 screws holding it together, and the new one had 4. See an authorized Yamaha dealer to see if yours was part of the recall. Perhaps it's only the senders that are the problem. Also look behind the dash at the wiring connections on the gauge, something may be disconnected or corroded.

i have 2 mounted fuel filters. would there only be 1 flow meter and if so it should be mounted somewhere after the filter but before the motor? what motor would it be likely connected to if it were installed as a factory item.

It's not a factory item, it is an option or an add-on by the dealer or the boat manufacturer. Most setups use 2 flow meters and one gauge with a selector switch. But it can be whatever the original installer decided to do and not necessarily what is normal and accepted installation procedures.
