Default how can i regulate IDLE control in F250A

Hi guys

First of all i want to thank you everybody for this great forum.
Second one i want to apologize because english is not my mother tongue , and i write u from spain
and it could be i dont know how to express very well.
In fact i want to know how to regulate idle control in a F250A because its 900 rpm too high, when service manual says the normal is between 600-700rpm.

the remote control looks ok, but i dont know how can i regulate idle,
is it possible using Yamaha Diagnosis System ¿? or how ¿?
in the service manual i just only can watch how to check but no how to regulate it,
i want to down it to put inside normal value.
anybody can help me a little ¿?
i visited two dealers but they dont know how to do, they want to change the ECM, and i find its ok.

another question is: anybody knows where can i find in europeor spain small pre-filter or in-line filter for injectors (sorry because i dont know how to say in english) of a yamaha F80BETL ¿?

bosch car providers has answer me they havent that kind of too small fuel in line/ fuel pre-filter for injectors.

thanks for all in advance.
best regards

If you now have a 900 rpm idle, then it is possible that a sensor is disconnected or faulty. A common problem is that someone forgets to hook up the air intake temperature sensor at the bottom of the black air intake box.

Use the service manual to test each sensor or use the diagnostic software YDS on a laptop to check out the motor.

Code 28 is the neutral switch, so check the shift cable adjustment and for any corrosion or stiffness in the shift linkage. Lube the fitting under the shift switch.

The cam codes are what is probably causing the fast idle. Check each sensor connection carefully and also make sure the battery cables are tight on the motor and on the batteries. Don't use wing-nuts, the battery cables should have stainless steel nuts to hold them in place.

The camshafts have a timing area on them that the sensor picks up. If that area has nicks or deep scratches, the sensor would read those and give an error code. You also have to read the voltage at the sensor connectors and compare those to the specifications in the service manual. There are sensor testing procedures in the service manual too.

Unfortunately that motor needs a laptop computer, diagnostic YDS software, interface cable, digital voltmeter, and adapter wires to check things out. It's not like the traditional 2-strokes where an adjustable wrench, hammer, and screwdriver was needed to fix anything.

i can get a diagnostic Yds software 1.30, interface + usb cable. When u say adapter wires u refere to cables for YDS kit ¿? or another kind of wires ?. I can get digital voltmeter too.

In the case there is a cam position sensor problem or where the camshafts timing area where the sensor picks up has nicks or deep scratches, how is it possible to repair it ¿?

replacing the sensor ¿?
but if the sensor is ok it's necessary to replace the camshaft or how ¿?.

Another question is why it's necessary to check the tight of the battery cables on the motor and on the batteries ¿? which is the relation with the cam codes ¿?

It's not possible to modify idle rpm manual ¿? always is the ECM, not possible with the YDS ¿?
THEN IS COMPLETELY AUTOMATIC ¿?

thanks for all in advance, and apologize for all my boring questions
regards

Any loose or intermittent battery connections can make the ECM go crazy, so the first troubleshooting procedure on computer controlled engines is to check for battery condition and tightness of the cables and connections.

A steady 900 rpm is probably the ECU recognizing the cam sensor problems and this is a "limp home" mode of operation. You will need the YDS to monitor the sensor signals.

Idle rpm is set by the engine because the throttle plate is fully closed at idle, and the idle speed control valve regulates the air going into the motor. That is controlled by the ECM

For your other questions and problems, you will need the service manual to show you how to test the sensors and how to use the YDS for troubleshooting. I feel sorry for you that you are not in an area like the USA where there is a Yamaha dealer usually within a few miles. Good luck, and let us know what finally fixes the problems.

You can look up the filter from the parts diagram on the Yamaha website but the USA importedF80 outboard motors had carburetors, not injectors.

Perhaps Spain's Yamaha importer can help you.
