Re: 1999 Evinrude 200 Ficht Because of gauge accuracy, cranking rpm, residual oil in cylinders, and temp, there are no published compression pressures. You want to see no more than 15 psi between the highest and lowest cylinders. You may read anywhere from 100 to 125 psi readings as every model motor is a bit different
Actually the best check is with a cold engine as if it reads OK, then chances are the motor is fine. If you try to read it with a warm engine, how warm is warm and what temp are the pistons since the motor was turned off. They will even be a lot cooler from all the cranking and getting ambient air temps washed over them, especially from the time the first check is made to the 6th compression check.
