Default Yamaha oil pump. how to test it?

As it goes, as soon as one problem is fixed another arises........

The engine alarm went off and the small tank on the motor was out of oil. I tried the manual switch and nothing. I then manualy filled the small tank to give it a quick fix. How do I test the oil pump on the big tank? I just replaced the small oil filter off of the big tank also. I appreciate the help so that I don't, once again, buy parts that are not needed. Thanks

Pull the tank and you will see the pump and motor along with its wiring with bullet connectors on the side of the tank. Blue is ground and Brown is HOT. Disconnect them and use small jumper wires to a battery.

If it works OK, then you have to check the wiring. The brown wire from the outboard should always have 12 volts with the key ON. Then make sure the blue wire is continuous to the outboard.

Replace filter on back of boat tank. You can also turn the key on and feel the tank if it vibrates the pump is running and the filter is clogged.

I have the same problem. My pump tests fine.
I tried to make it run by grounding the blue/green wire at the sensor plug but it doesnt pump. What next?

Please start a new topic question so as not to hijack this thread. When you post the new question, be sure to state the model number of the motor and if the emergency switch will start the oil flowing to the engine tank. We'd love to help but we need more info from you.

Sorry.
I tracked it down a bad wire between the tank pump and the engine.
