Default Changing Oil in Yami 4 Stroke (150's) ?

Guys do you take the drain plug out or is it better to buy one of those tubes and pump/suck the oil out via the dip stick tube?

What's the cost of the pump equipment?

Cheers!

Default RE: Changing Oil in Yami 4 Stroke (150's) ?

I use the BigBoy topsider vac pump ( around $50) on my F150 and it works great. I always change the oil with the boat in the water so for me this is the way to go. When I refill I use 5 qts of Mobil 1 10-30 which gets it between the marks on the dipstick. Its important not to over fill these engines.

It is always best to warm up the motor and drain out the oil through the drain plug, but with a boat in the water it is necessary to use a pump. As long as good oil is used and is changed regularly after a warmup, there will be no sludge in the pan to worry about.

You can find drill powered pump out kits in the $20 range at marine accessory stores or even hardware stores.
