I have a Johnson 4hp Sea Horse. It runs great, but does not spit water. I have run it for 20 minutes and the motor does not feel hot. Should this motor spit water or is it redirected where you can not see it ?

There are many different model 4 hp motors over that last 30 or so years. Some have a water "tell-tale" stream and others just mist water out of the small exhaust relief holes in the back of the midsection, just above the gearcase. As long as the motor is not getting hot, you should be OK.

The small motors have shorter life spans on their water pumps than the big motors do. IF it's been more than a few years, it's best to replace it before it comes apart at the wrong time and place.
