Re: Cold Start Head Aches Make sure the motor is in a level postion, not trimmed up, hold the primer ball with the arrow up and squeeze until it is rock hard, turn the key to ON and press it in for a few seconds, then while holding it in, turn to START. Once the motor starts, you may need to push in the "choke" momentarily a few times until the motor warms up enough. Make sure the thermostats are operational. Do not move the throttle from the idle position as the motor has a built in warm-up rpm when starting.
The motor shoudl fireup within 10 seconds when cold. If not, then troubleshooting is needed by a pro. The motor neeeds to turn over about 300-350 rpm to generate a strong enough spark. If the primer ball will not get rock hard, find out if there is a carb leak or replace the ball with a GENUINE Evinrude one.
