Evinrude 200HP carb jet change ? - The Hull Truth

We have a 1994 Evinrude 200 Vindicator and a 1997 Evinrude 200 Ocean series motor. I occasionally read where to change the #2 carb jet ? is this necessary ? If so, what are the procedures to do this ? thanks,,GC

There is no service bulletin or factory directive to richen up #2 cylinder. A lot of people do it because that's what they heard somewhere from someone. It doesn't hurt in a high performance application to go up one or two sizes in main jets. What a lot don't realize is that jets get larger with use as gasoline is abrasive to brass at high flow rates. You can remove a jet and check its diameter with the appropriate number drill and you may find it already larger than when new.
