Default Evinrude 225 rotated cylinder sleeves

I have a 1998 Evinrude 225 that I had an overheat on. I had the head gaskets replaced at which time I looked to see if the cylinders were damaged - they were fine but the sleeves had rotated on 5 of the 6 cylinders. I was told that I would loose HP because of it. I have since run the boat with no real noticable difference. Is there anything I should really be concerned with?

How far did they rotate and how can you tell?

When the head gaskets were replaced I looked in the cylinders and noticed the sleeves had twisted I spun the fly wheel and looked in all the cylinders. Five of the six had twisted some more than others. I was told I would have to bore the cylinders so as to re-sleeve. I chose not to do that and put it all back together. The boat runs as it did before - just would like to know if I should be concerned?

The sleeves in your looper motor are not straight tubes that can rotate, they have "bulges" in them for the porting so it is impossible to turn. chances are they may have been slightly out of position in manufacturing the block. That is probably why you did not notice any difference in performance. If the motor has been running fine, don't worry about it.
